Attorney General: Watch out for fraud

The Florida Attorney General’s Office is pro-actively targeting mortgage “rescue” companies who are committing fraud.  The statistics are pretty amazing:

“Consumers filed 7,305 complaints related to mortgage and foreclosure schemes, followed by 5,103 complaints about debt-collection services, collection agencies and credit-reporting companies.”

There are reputable companies out there.  I recommend you check with your local Better Business Bureau and the state Attorney General’s Office before entering into agreements with them.  Their experience can be beneficial, but unfortunately, I have heard too many stories of homeowners being ripped off at the time they can least afford it.
